What it is

Android app testing, explained

Emulators and a couple of office phones cover a fraction of what your users actually carry. Budget phones with aggressive battery savers, custom manufacturer skins, small screens and slow connections are where Android apps usually fail. TestLancer testers install your app from a closed track, internal link or APK and work through the flows you care about on their everyday devices.

  • Teams running a Google Play closed or open test
  • Apps with a large audience on budget phones

Problems solved

What this fixes

Crashes on specific brands

Manufacturer skins such as One UI, MIUI/HyperOS and ColorOS change permissions, background limits and fonts.

Layouts that break

Small screens, large font settings and notches push buttons off-screen or overlap text.

Background tasks killed

Battery optimisers stop notifications, syncing and timers on many popular brands.

Slow or patchy networks

Real mobile data exposes timeouts and missing loading states.

Android app testing: frequently asked questions

Which Android devices do your testers use?

Their own everyday phones, so coverage reflects the real market: Samsung, Xiaomi/Redmi, Realme, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Motorola, Pixel and others. You can request specific brands or Android versions.

Can you test an APK that isn't on Google Play yet?

Yes. We can test through a Play internal or closed track, Firebase App Distribution or a direct APK link, depending on what you use.

Does this help with the 12-tester closed testing rule?

Yes. For new personal developer accounts, see our Google Play closed testing packages, which run the full 14 days with a buffer above 12 testers.

Will testers leave reviews on Google Play?

No. All feedback is private to you. Testers are never asked to rate or review your app.
